Agents render first aid to a migrant
Agents render aid to an undocumented migrant.

LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Zapata Station and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers rescued and provided aid to a lost individual south of Laredo.

The rescue occurred during the late afternoon of August 25, when agents responded to a report from DPS of several lost individuals near Dolores Creek south of the city. One of the individuals had fainted and Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived on the scene to begin treatment.  As the undocumented migrant from Mexico responded favorably to medical aid, Zapata County Emergency Medical Services arrived to transport the individual to the hospital for further treatment.

The Laredo Sector Border Patrol cannot stress enough the dangers and risks that undocumented individuals place themselves throughout their journey into the United States.  They subject themselves to human smugglers who guide them through remote areas during the high temperatures of summer and will abandon them at the first sign of danger.  Laredo Sector agents will continue to render aid to those exploited and abandoned by human smugglers.

Take a stand against these criminal organizations and other potentially dangerous acts by reporting suspicious activity.  To report suspicious activity such as human and/or drug smuggling contact the Laredo Sector Border Patrol toll free at 1-800-343-1994.
