Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents Stop Smuggling Event Involving Eight Illegal Aliens
LAREDO, Texas – On June 8, 2018, agents assigned to the Laredo South Border Patrol Station responded to a report of illegal activity near the Riverhill Subdivision in Laredo, Texas. Upon entering the neighborhood, Border Patrol Agents encountered a white GMC Sonoma in which eight illegal aliens were attempting to hide in the bed of the truck.
The driver of the vehicle, a United States Citizen, attempted to abscond on foot but was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest. The eight illegal aliens were found in good health and identified as being from the country of Mexico.
The case was referred to Homeland Security Investigations.
“These criminal organizations view these individuals as mere commodities without regard for their safety. The blatant disregard for human life will not be tolerated. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to disrupt and dismantle these organizations and prosecute those responsible,” said Laredo Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Gabriel Acosta.
