Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents Seize Over $1 Million in Narcotics

LAREDO, Texas – On August 19, 2017, Border Patrol agents seized 591.94 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas.  Agents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate Highway 35 encountered a white Dodge Durango hauling a trailer at the primary lane.  The driver was questioned regarding his immigration status and was referred to secondary after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of concealed humans and/or narcotics.  A further search of the trailer resulted in the seizure of ten bundles of marijuana.  The marijuana was estimated to have a value of $473,552.00.  The driver, a United States Citizen was arrested.  The driver and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and Border Patrol seized the vehicle.

On August 21, 2017, Border Patrol agents seized 239.86 pounds of marijuana in Laredo, Texas.  Agents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate Highway 35 encountered a black tractor hauling a white trailer at the primary lane.  The driver was questioned regarding his immigration status and was referred to secondary for a non-intrusive inspection.  A further inspection revealed anomalies in the cab sleeper area.  A further search of the tractor resulted in the seizure of ten bundles of marijuana.  The marijuana was estimated to have a value of $191,888.00.  The driver, a Mexican National was arrested.  The driver and marijuana were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

On August 21, 2017, Border Patrol agents seized 29.04 pounds of methamphetamine in Laredo, Texas.  Agents at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on Interstate Highway 35 encountered a green Ford F-350 at the primary lane.  The driver was questioned regarding his immigration status and was referred to secondary after a Border Patrol canine alerted to the presence of concealed humans and/or narcotics.  A further search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of eight bundles of methamphetamine.  The methamphetamine was estimated to have a value of $929,280.00.  The driver, a Mexican Citizen was arrested.  The driver, vehicle and methamphetamine were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
