Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents Save the Life of an Infant

Release Date

LAREDO, Texas – Due to their training and quick response, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Hebbronville Station save an infant’s life near Hebbronville, Texas.

During the evening of April 28, agents responded to a request for assistance from local medical services for a one-year old infant that was suffering from a seizure on a ranch, 18 miles south of Hebbronville, Texas.  Due to the remoteness of the ranch, local medical services were unable to respond; subsequently, an agent arrived at the ranch and began to administer first aid to the infant who was suffering from seizures due to a high fever.  The agent transported the infant to Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who stabilized the infant.

Agents were able to coordinate with local Air Med transport to take the infant to the nearest children’s medical hospital in Edinburg, Texas.  As of 9am on April 29, the infant’s health was reported to have improved and has been discharged from the hospital.

The presence and quick response of the Border Patrol agents and EMT helped ensure that the infant received needed medical attention.
