Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents Rescue Man from Assailants in Rio Grande River
LAREDO, Texas – On July 2, 2018, Laredo South Border Patrol Agents witnessed a subject being assaulted by two individuals in the Rio Grande River near Laredo, Texas. Agents responded to the scene in order to render assistance, forcing the two assailants to abscond back to Mexico. Upon returning to Mexico, the two assailants met with a group of individuals, one who was seen displaying a handgun.
Agents assigned to the Laredo Sector Marine Unit were able to safely extract the victim of the assault from the Rio Grande River and transport him to safety. The victim, who was identified as a Mexican National, was transported to the hospital by ambulance for additional medical treatment. The United States Border Patrol is coordinating with the Laredo Police Department regarding the incident.
