Laredo Sector Border Patrol Agents Make Narcotics Seizure
LAREDO, Texas – Border Patrol agents from the Laredo Sector seized a narcotic seizure this past weekend at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on State Highway 59.
On March 5, 2017, Border Patrol agents working their assigned duties at the Border Patrol Checkpoint on State Highway 59 encountered a truck at the primary inspection lane. The driver and passenger were questioned regarding their immigration status and were subsequently referred by agents to secondary for further inspection.
While at secondary, agents conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle, finding several large buckets inside the vehicle. The buckets were filled with grease with several bundles inside. The bundles tested positive for marijuana and cocaine. A total of eight bundles were removed from the vehicle. The bundles that contained cocaine had a total weight of 12.6 pounds with a street value of $405,664 USD. The bundles that contained marijuana had a total weight of 67 pounds with a street value of $53,792 USD. The subject was placed under arrest, the narcotics and subject was turned over to Drug Enforcement Administration.
