LAREDO, Texas – On January 6, 2018, Border Patrol agents in Laredo, Texas arrested an illegal alien previously convicted as a sex offender. The subject, Estrella Janet Caguana-Calderon, had been previously arrested in New Haven, Connecticut in 2010 for Illicit Sexual Contact against a Victim who is a minor/risk of injury to a child. Caguana-Calderon was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the felony offense where she served eight years with a 10-year probation. Caguana-Calderon was identified as being from the country of Ecuador and was processed for criminal and removal proceedings.
“The arrest of this criminal alien and preventing her from committing another heinous crime is just another example that illustrates how the United States Border Patrol keeps our communities safe,” said Laredo Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Gabriel Acosta.
