LAREDO, Texas – On March 7, 2018, Border Patrol agents arrested Jose Manuel Garcia Gonzalez, an illegal alien identified as a registered sex offender.  Garcia Gonzalez was apprehended walking through the brush with a group of illegal aliens near Hebbronville, Texas.  Garcia Gonzalez had a conviction for Sexually Grooming a Child and Rape in 2016 and served 322 days in prison for the crime.  Garcia Gonzalez, a Mexican national, will be processed accordingly for illegal re-entry into the United States.

“The arrest of this criminal alien and preventing him from committing another heinous crime is just another example that illustrates how the United States Border Patrol keeps our communities safe,” said Laredo Sector Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Gabriel Acosta.

To report suspicious activity such as alien and/or drug smuggling, contact the Laredo Sector Border Patrol toll free telephone number at 1-800-343-1994.  All people apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal aliens with criminal histories are positively identified.
