Laredo North Agents Seize 1317 Pounds of Marijuana

CBP U.S. Border Patrol Agents seize more than 1,300 pounds of marijuana at  traffic checkpoint

Eighty bundles of marijuana are seized by Agents, north of Laredo, TX.

Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo North Station seized 1,317 pounds of marijuana at the IH-35 Checkpoint. While an agent was conducting an immigration inspection of the driver of a Volvo tractor, a service canine alerted to possible hidden people or contraband. The tractor-trailer was sent to secondary for further inspection.

The Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System revealed a false compartment toward the front of the trailer. Agents searched the false compartment and discovered 80 bundles of a substance that tested positive as marijuana. The drug has an estimated street value of $1,053,600. The marijuana, subject, and tractor-trailer were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
