The City of Laredo, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Nuevo Laredo representatives
met to discuss hours of operation for International Bridge I
LAREDO, Texas – In an effort to alleviate traffic coming from Mexico-U.S. and vice-versa, the City of Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz, Port Director Alberto A. Flores, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, and representatives from the city of Nuevo Laredo and Mexican Customs met to discuss the extension of hours of operation at International Bridge I on Thursday, September 9. After careful review, officials have decided the following:
- The Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) hours of operation will be extended to 24 hours for those who travel from Mexico to the U.S. starting on Friday, September 10th at 6:00 AM. The decision was based on alleviating concurrent traffic congestion going northbound on International Bridge I.
- Bridge I will now be open for those who travel from the U.S. to Mexico starting on Monday, September 13th at 8:00 AM. This will alleviate traffic going south-bound at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge II.
“U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Laredo Port of Entry is ready to extend the hours of operation at Bridge 1 and provide continuous service to trusted travelers,” said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “CBP encourages international travelers to take advantage of the trusted traveler programs that are available to the public, which are excellent programs for frequent international travelers.”
