Gang member, convicted sex offender arrested by Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents

EDINBURG, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended a convicted sex offender and a member of Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) on Wednesday.

 The sex offender was arrested by agents assigned to the Weslaco Station, as he attempted to illegally enter the United States near Hidalgo. During processing, agents discovered the man was previously arrested and convicted in Fairfax County, Va., for aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child under 14 years old.

 The gang member was apprehended by McAllen Station agents near Hidalgo as he was illegally entering the U.S. Records checks confirmed the man, who is a Salvadoran national, is a member of   MS-13.
