ERIE, Pa. – Air and Marine Operations agents from the Erie Marine Unit recently participated in the third annual Shop With A Hero event. The agents joined other organizations to pair up with 62 children for shopping visits to retailers in the Erie, Pennsylvania area.
Children learned about the duties of agents while shopping, visiting Santa Claus, and eating lunch. The children were selected for the program from recommendations by local social service organizations, churches and schools. Each child received a $100 gift card for their shopping trip, which were donated anonymously.
“This event was a great opportunity to share some productive time with some of kids in the area,” said Marine Interdiction Agent Jon Rose. “Children were happy to go shopping, and took advantage of the opportunity to learn more about law enforcement careers.”
The event was supported by officers and agents from Air and Marine Operations, U.S. Border Patrol, Pennsylvania State Police, and military service members from the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Local police agencies included the Lawrence Park Township and Wesleyville police departments.
