El Paso Sector U.S. Border Patrol Agents working in southern New Mexico rescued four people and rendered aid to three elderly United States citizens in a vehicle rollover in separate incidents, Sept. 25-26.
On Sept. 25, Border Patrol Agents from the Santa Teresa Station received a call from New Mexico State Police regarding a migrant who called 911 because he was lost and in distress, near a rescue beacon. Hours later agents were able to find the migrant in good health in a remote desert location northeast of Columbus, New Mexico.
On the morning of Sept. 26, Border Patrol Agents from the Alamogordo Border Patrol Station got a request to assist local law enforcement with rescuing a local in a desolate area of the mountains near Cloudcroft, New Mexico. This person was riding a dirt bike motorcycle when he fell down a steep embankment resulting in injuries. Agents were able to assist in the extraction and stabilization of the person until local emergency medical services arrived.
On the afternoon of Sept. 26, Border Patrol Agents from the Deming station saw a SUV that had rolled over on New Mexico Highway 11. Agents immediately jumped into action by assisting three elderly occupants exit the vehicle. Agents rendered aid until local law enforcement and emergency services arrived. The three elderly individuals’ injuries were minor to include cuts and bruises.
“Our skilled Border Patrol Agents are continuously called upon to render aid when needed, whether it is a migrant in distress or a resident of our communities, our men and women don't hesitate to respond in a time of need,” said El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez. “I am extremely proud of the work our El Paso Sector agents do every day securing the homeland and serving our communities.”
