CALEXICO, CALIF.—On Friday El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station discovered a loaded firearm and narcotics in a vehicle during inspection at the Interstate 8 checkpoint.
Border Patrol agents referred a grey Scion xD to secondary inspection after a canine team alerted them to the vehicle. During further inspection of the vehicle, agents discovered an unregistered, loaded .38 caliber revolver under the driver's seat along with 5.45 grams of marijuana and .88 grams of cocaine. The driver, a 41-year-old male, and the passenger, a 40-year-old female, were arrested and identified as United States citizens.
The occupants, vehicle, firearm, and drugs were turned over to the Imperial County Sherriff's Office.
