El Centro Sector Border Patrol Intercepts Wanted Gang Members at Immigration Checkpoint

SALTON CITY, Calif. – El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station arrested three men with active warrants during their attempt to pass through the Highway 86 checkpoint.

The incident occurred on Sunday, at approximately 8 p.m., when Border Patrol agents were conducting an immigration inspection.  During the inspection, record checks revealed that all three men had active warrants out of the State of New York.

Border Patrol agents contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigations field office in New York and confirmed the pending warrants.  One of the men, a 47-year-old, has a pending warrant for aiding and abetting.  A 27-year-old man, has warrant for firing a weapon.  A 21-year-old man, has a warrant for a shooting incident.

Agents also discovered the two younger men have strong ties to the “Predator Crips” a criminal street gang out of New York.  All three men were positively identified and will be processed and extradited to New York.
