CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station arrested two previously deported convicted sex offenders last night in two separate events.
The first arrest occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m., when a 27-year-old man was apprehended by Border Patrol agents 25 miles east of the Calexico West Port of Entry, after he illegally entered the United States.
Border Patrol agents conducted records checks which revealed that the man is a previously removed sex offender and member of the Sureno prison gang.
The second arrest occurred around 9:40 p.m. when a 33-year-old man, was arrested by a Border Patrol agent after illegally entering the United States near Mount Signal.
The man’s record checks revealed that he has an active warrant for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 13.
The men, both citizens of Mexico, will be turned over the custody of the Imperial County jail.
One man will be prosecuted for his illegal re-entry as a prior removed felon/sex offender and the other awaits extradition to Santa Ana for his active warrant.
“I am proud of the work accomplished by my agents,” said Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott, “these two dangerous men are off our streets and are no longer a danger to the members of our community.”
