IMPERIAL VALLEY, Calif. – On Friday, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehend a dangerous criminal street gang member.  The man was illegally present in the United States at the time of his arrest.  This makes a total of 10 gang members arrested this year.

Border Patrol agents from the El Centro station apprehended 33-year-old Ivan Balmorez-Araujo when he illegally entered into the U.S. approximately seven miles west of downtown Calexico.

Agents interviewed Balmorez and determined he was an active member of the “Rudos Boys” criminal street gang out of Lynwood which has close ties to the “Surenos 13” criminal street gang.  Balmorez has felony convictions for attempted murder and burglary and received an eight year prison sentence.

Balmorez is in Border Patrol custody and will be processed for re-entry of a removed alien.
