El Centro Sector Border Patrol Agents Discover More than $66,000 of Heroin Inside Passenger Bus from Mexico
SALTON CITY, Calif.— Sunday, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station seized 7.42 pounds of heroin, with an estimated street value of $66,780, concealed inside an Americanos passenger bus.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m., when Border Patrol agents encountered an Americanos passenger bus as it approached the Highway 86 checkpoint.
A Border Patrol Canine Detection team alerted to the bus and referred the bus driver for further inspection. During the inspection agents discovered three plastic wrapped packages of heroin hidden inside a trash can near the restroom in the back of the bus.
No arrests were made. The heroin was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
