SALTON CITY, Calif. – Sunday, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Indio Station apprehend a dangerous gang member at the Highway 86 checkpoint for an outstanding warrant.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., a yellow cab approached the checkpoint with a 39-year-old male passenger. The man was questioned by agents and it was determined that his name is Alejandro Sanchez, a previously deported member of the “Sureno” prison gang.
A criminal background check on the suspect revealed that he has convictions for sexual battery and stalking. Agents also learned of an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the California Department of Parole.
The man, a citizen of Mexico, was turned over to the California Department of Parole.
