CALEXICO, CALIF.—U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a convicted sex offender yesterday.
The incident occurred 18 miles east of the Calexico West Port of Entry, at approximately 10:30 a.m., when agents encountered a 23-year-old male, citizen of Mexico attempting an illegal entry into the United States. Through interview and further inspection, agents determined the man was previously convicted of rape and sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The man is being held by the U.S. Border Patrol and will be prosecuted for re-entry after deportation.
