Release Date
Mon, 03/18/2013

Del Rio, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South station apprehended a convicted sex offender Thursday morning.

Agents patrolling a local ranch encountered Antonio Monjaras-Negrete, 57, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico. During processing, agents discovered that Monjaras-Negrete had been previously deported from the United States and was a registered sex offender. Criminal records checks revealed that Monjaras-Negrete has a 2012 conviction out of Arlington for indecency with a child and was given 60 months probation for that charge.

An immigration check revealed Monjaras-Negrete, a Mexican national, had been previously deported in 2012. Monjaras-Negrete will be processed for removal from the United States and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.

For fiscal year 2013, the Del Rio Sector has apprehended a total of eight convicted sex offenders.
