STERLING, Va. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO), at Washington Dulles International Airport arrested a Virginia man Wednesday who was wanted by the Henrico County, Va. Police Department for failure to appear on a Neglect of Child charge.
Dana Rashawn Burns, 31, of North Chesterfield, Va., arrived on a flight from Great Britain. CBP officers determined Burns to be subject to an arrest warrant issued by the Henrico County, Va. Police Department for failure to appear on a Neglect of Child charge. CBP officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition. CBP officers arrested Burns and turned him over to Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police officers for extradition.
“The United States is a welcoming nation; however, CBP remains ever vigilant in intercepting those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny,” said Jerry Ficklin CBP assistant port director for the Port of Washington Dulles.
CBP conducts inspection operations and intercepts currency, weapons, prohibited agriculture products and other illicit items, and on average arrests 21 wanted persons a day at U.S. Ports of entry nationwide.
Travelers are encouraged to visit CBP’s Travel section to learn rules governing travel to and from the U.S.
Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
