LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Laredo Field Office is proud to announce that Director, Field Operations David P. Higgerson was recognized with a significant national honor at the 2018 DHS Secretary’s Awards.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized at the DHS Secretary's Awards Ceremony but the work being recognized is truly a reflection of the vision of the management team at Laredo Field Office and the implementation of that vision by the CBP officers, agriculture specialists and frontline employees working hard every day at the ports of entry throughout Laredo Field Office,” said Director, Field Operations David P. Higgerson, Laredo Field Office.
DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen awarded DFO Higgerson with the Secretary’s Meritorious Service Silver Medal 2018 for serving with distinction as the Director of Field Operations, Laredo Field Office, responsible for enforcement activities at eight international Ports of Entry and the Machinery Center of Excellence, also an integral part of Joint Task Force-West, working to inhibit transnational criminal organizations from operating in South Texas.
The Secretary’s Meritorious Service Silver Medal recognizes exceptional individual leadership or service that is distinguished by achievements of marked significance over time to the Department of Homeland Security. This award will recognize a body of work characterized by superior performance related to significant accomplishments, business improvements or notable resourcefulness and diligence that significantly improved the effectiveness of the Department of Homeland Security in one or more program areas.
