Del Rio Sector Border Patrol Agents Seize More Than 1,100 Pounds of Marijuana

DEL RIO, TEXAS—U.S. Border Patrol agents seized 1,111 pounds of marijuana in recent days.

Sunday, Dec. 30, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass North Border Patrol Station spotted a group of suspected undocumented aliens. When the agents conducted a thorough search of the area, they discovered three military style duffel bags and a single undocumented alien. The undocumented alien was transported to the Eagle Pass North Station, where it was discovered he had a prior order of removal reinstated. The duffel bags contained 209 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $167,200.

 

A total of 20 bundles were discovered inside the duffel bags.  The duffel bags contained 225 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $180,000.

Thursday, Jan. 10, agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Border Patrol Station encountered foot sign of approximately six subjects walking a trail on a local ranch. While walking the trail, agents encountered six military-style duffel bags. An extensive search of the area for subjects associated with the marijuana was conducted with negative results. A total of 40 bundles were discovered inside the duffel bags. The duffel bags contained 450 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $234,176.

Also on Thursday, agents assigned to the Eagle Pass South Station found foot sign of approximately five subjects walking a trail on a local ranch. While following the trail, agents discovered five military-style duffel bags. A search of the area turned up no subjects associated with the marijuana. A total of five large bricks were discovered inside the duffel bags. The duffel bags contained 227 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated street value of $182,136.

That same day, Border Patrol agents assigned to the Eagle Pass North Border Patrol Station discovered foot sign of approximately four subjects walking a trail on a local ranch. While walking the trail, agents found four military-style duffel bags. An extensive search of the area for subjects associated with the marijuana yielded negative results. A total of 20 bundles were discovered inside the duffel bags. The duffel bags contained 225 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $180,000.

All cases were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
