Del Rio, Texas - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Station seized more than 160 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $130,000.
Saturday evening, a Mexican national with a Border Crossing Card entered the immigration checkpoint north of Del Rio on Highway 277 driving a 1994 Chevy Astro van. The van was referred to a secondary inspection area after a Border Patrol canine alerted on the vehicle. While inspecting the van, agents discovered that the entire floor was converted into a hidden compartment that contained numerous bundles of marijuana. The driver was arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration along with the contraband and vehicle.
