CBP Starts Operations at New General Aviation Facility in San Juan

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that PAZOS Fixed Base Operator (FBO) Service opened a new general aviation processing facility at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) located in Carolina, Puerto Rico. New facility is located within the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport

The new state-of-the art General Aviation Facility (GAF) was built in full compliance and adherence to CBP standards and guidelines to provide inspection of international flights and travelers, and would be at no cost to CBP.

“CBP welcomes the opportunity to work with private sector with the goal of improving the traveler experience upon arrival into the United States, therefore increasing tourism and fostering economic growth while ensuring the highest level of security.,” indicated Marcelino Borges, Director of Field Operations in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. 

An FBO like PAZOS provide airline passenger services for such international and Caribbean regional airlines.

“Working with CBP throughout the development process of their new customs immigration and agriculture terminal, has been a very informative and helpful experience, providing us with valuable knowledge regarding the strictest security considerations involved in a U.S. entry facility of this caliber.  In turn, this experience broadened our vision of our new FBO,” noted Jose Maldonado, president of PAZOS FBO Services, host of CBP’s new customs and immigration office. “Having CBP co-located within our new modern FBO, will make entry into the U.S. a secured and pleasant experience for travelers. It will also shorten the time between disembarking from an aircraft and entering CBP, while making the connection into the U.S. a seamless process.”

Working in full partnership with private industry and local government stakeholders, CBP has demonstrated its commitment to facilitating economic growth while reducing wait times for international travelers.
