LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized a noteworthy amount of alleged cocaine during an enforcement action over the weekend.
“This was an excellent interception effected by our CBP officers,” said (A) Port Director Adriana Arce, Laredo Port of Entry. “This seizure demonstrates how the officer’s attention to detail led to the discovery of this hard narcotic.”
The incident occurred at Lincoln-Juarez Bridge on Sunday, June 5, when a CBP officer referred a 2008 Volkswagen Passat driven by a 20-year-old male United States citizen from San Antonio, Texas for a secondary examination. A canine inspection was conducted in which the canine alerted to the odor of narcotics. An inspection of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 34 pounds of alleged cocaine valued at $267,580.
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle. The driver and case were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
