LAREDO, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Laredo Field Office, Laredo Port of Entry is advising the international trade community that it will be conducting a business resumption practical exercise on Monday, Sept. 17 in coordination with Texas National Guard 6th Civil Support Team and City of Laredo’s fire and police departments. The exercise will have no impact on normal daily commercial operations.
“In order to reassure the international trade community and the local residents that there is no cause for alarm, we are proactively advising the public regarding this business resumption practical exercise at World Trade Bridge on Sept. 17,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “These exercises are invaluable in training and preparing for real-world incidents. As we test and evaluate the business resumption protocols we have in place, these exercises further refine our ability to isolate any threat and maintain continuity of operations in any contingency.”
The business resumption exercise involves the entry of a tractor trailer at World Trade Bridge with a mock radiological device and tests the ability of CBP officers and first responders, including Laredo fire, police departments and a bomb squad to detect, identify and isolate the threat while facilitating the movement of lawful commerce through business resumption protocols.
