At about 4:45 p.m. on Friday, a 34-year-old male Mexican citizen arrived at the Otay Mesa cargo border crossing driving a tractor-trailer that was supposed to be empty. CBP officers referred the driver for a more intensive inspection at the loading dock where an officer with a human/narcotic detector dog swept the vehicle, and the canine alerted to the tires on the trailer. CBP officers found 16 packages of marijuana hidden in the tires, weighing about 185 pounds, with an estimated street value of $83,000. CBP officers seized the truck and narcotics, and turned the driver over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigation (ICE HSI) agents.
