LAREDO, Texas –U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers recently seized a significant amount of alleged crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $440,000 in one enforcement action.

“Our CBP officers remain vigilant as they continue to successfully keep these illicit narcotics from entering our communities,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry. “I congratulate our officers for this interception and for the outstanding job they do each day in keeping our borders secure.”

The seizure occurred on Sunday, August 20 at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado for a secondary examination. A canine and physical inspection of the vehicle and personal belongings resulted in the discovery of 10 cans allegedly containing 10 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $440,920.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and narcotics and the case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
