CHAMPLAIN, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Champlain Port of Entry discovered multiple forms of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) bi-products that included oil, spray, capsules and marijuana that were hidden in a false compartment in the bottom of a Pringles can.

While performing a trunk inspection of a vehicle driven by an 18 year-old U.S. Citizen on June 20, a CBP officer discovered a container labeled as “THC honey.” The THC honey weighed a total of 105 grams. Further screening resulted in the discovery of a Pringles can located in the subject’s backpack. CBP officers noticed anomalies with the can and further inspection led to the discovery of a false bottom within the can. A total of 59.5 grams of THC oil, 25.3 grams of THC spray, 21.5 grams of marijuana, and 13.6 grams of THC capsules were discovered within the can.

“These items are still illegal at the Federal level and our officers work diligently to ensure they don’t make it into the United States and our communities,” stated Port Director Steve Bronson. “It becomes challenging as people continue to try to find innovative ways to hide these illegal substances from our officers, but our officers are up to that challenge and continue to work diligently to enforce the laws of the United States.”

The subject was taken into custody and processed by CBP officers. After initial CBP processing, the subject and all evidence was turned over to the New York State Police to face charges.
