CHAMPAIN, N.Y.—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) arrested a U.S. citizen wanted on charges of aggravated sexual battery and child molestation.
On January 1, CBP officers working at the Champlain Port of Entry encountered 47-year-old Augustino Cafone, a U.S. citizen from Union, N.J.
During the secondary examination, additional record checks confirmed that Cafone was the subject of an active arrest warrant issued out of Murray County, Ga. for charges of aggravated sexual battery and child molestation.
CBP officers verified the validity of the warrant and confirmed extradition to Georgia. Cafone was arrested by CBP and turned over to the custody of the New York State Police pending extradition.
