EASTPORT, Idaho — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers arrested a male citizen of Canada at the port of Eastport, Idaho, on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant out of Texas.

On June 16, Stephen Scofield, 55, arrived from Canada at the port of Eastport.  CBP officers discovered an extraditable warrant for Scofield in the National Crime Information Center database.   Scofield was placed under arrest and turned over to Boundary County Sheriff’s office.

“CBP officers using our database tools affected the arrest of this fugitive after confirming the warrant in the National Crime Information Center database.  This wanted fugitive will face pending charges in Texas thanks to the outstanding vigilance of our frontline officers,” said Tish Lagerwey, Eastport Port Director.

The National Crime Information Center is a centralized automated data base designed to share information among law enforcement agencies including outstanding warrants for a wide range of offenses.  These warrants are for a wide range of offenses and include money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual abuse of children, violation of protection orders, fraud, failure to appear, larceny and military desertion.
