SWEETGRASS, MONT.—U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested a male U.S. citizen at the port of Sweetgrass, Montana, on an active warrant out of Missouri.
On October 23, at about 4:00 p.m. CBP officers at the port of Sweetgrass arrested Jacob Isaac Miers, 19, on kidnapping charges, as he arrived in a vehicle from Alaska via Canada. The subject was turned over to Toole County Sheriff's office.
"CBP officers using our database tools affected the arrest of this fugitive after confirming the warrant in the National Crime Information Center database. This wanted fugitive will face pending charges in Missouri thanks to the outstanding vigilance of our frontline officers," said Larry Overcast, Sweet Grass port director.
The National Crime Information Center is a centralized automated data base designed to share information among law enforcement agencies including outstanding warrants for a wide range of offenses. These warrants are for a wide range of offenses and include money laundering, robbery, narcotics distribution, sexual abuse of children, violation of protection orders, fraud, failure to appear, larceny and military desertion.
