CBP Seizes 11 Pounds of Cocaine Concealed in Various Courier Packages Inspected in San Juan and Aguadilla

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seized last week 11 pounds (5 kilos) of cocaine concealed inside various courier packages that were inspected in the Air Cargo facilities at the Luis Munoz Marin and Rafael Hernández international airports.  The estimated value of the seized narcotics is $125,000. In one case, cocaine was concealed in a metal box.

“Transnational Criminal Organizations continue to use the international supply chain to conceal narcotics within legitimate cargo”, stated Roberto Vaquero, Acting Director of Field Operations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  “Our officers’ expertise, along with the utilization of all available tools, resulted in the detection of these narcotics.  Our communities can feel safer knowing that the men and women of CBP are securing their borders.”

The CBP Contraband Enforcement unit found the various amounts of cocaine concealed inside items like a sound woofer, an air purifier, a metal box, an auto computer and a gift box.   All the packages were destined to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Maryland.
