DONNA, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Field Operations officers at the Donna International Bridge arrested a man returning from Mexico Tuesday afternoon after learning he had an outstanding warrant for Sexual Assault of a Child out of the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.

“I applaud our officers for their diligent efforts in apprehending individuals with outstanding warrants,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Progreso/Donna Port of Entry. “CBP collaborates with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to bring fugitives to justice thus making our communities safer.”

The apprehension occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Donna International Bridge. CBP officers referred a vehicle driver to secondary for further inspection due to a possible match to an outstanding warrant. Officers referred the man for secondary inspection to confirm his identity and citizenship.

CBP officers conducted a fingerprint check and utilizing national law enforcement databases confirmed the identity of the driver as 48-year-old Antonio Ramirez Carlos, a citizen of Mexico, wanted in Hidalgo County on an outstanding warrant for sexual assault of a child. CBP officers turned Ramirez Carlos over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office for adjudication of the warrant. Charges and allegations contained in criminal complaints are merely accusations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
