TUCSON, Ariz. — A U.S. citizen is in custody following a seizure of heroin at the Port of Nogales on Wednesday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Morley pedestrian crossing referred a 17-year-old girl for additional inspection as she attempted to enter the United States. A routine search led to the discovery of three packages hidden within her undergarments, containing nearly 2.5 pounds of heroin worth an estimated $34,000.
Officers seized the drugs and referred the subject to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
