CBP Arrests Four With Outstanding Warrants in One Day

Release Date

JAMAICA, N.Y.—We all expect U. S. Customs and Border Protection to be at the forefront of seizing narcotics and keeping terrorists out of the country, but their duties are far more reaching than that.

This was never more evident then on Wednesday March 7, as CBP officers at John F. Kennedy International Airport arrested four travelers on four different outstanding warrants from four different states.

Mr. Joseph Michael Moore arrived from Guyana. Upon examining him, CBP officers discovered that he was a match to an arrest warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance, issued by the New York Police Department. Mr. Mohammad Naseem arrived from Kuwait. CBP officers found him to be a match to an arrest warrant for failure to appear for a jury selection hearing, issued by the United States District Court, District of South Carolina. Mr. Kirill Lebedev was arrested by CBP attempting to depart the United States to Italy with an outstanding active arrest warrant for arson, burglary and assault, issued by the Montgomery County, MD Police Department. Mr. Gabriel Ryan Bobar arrived from Turkey. CBP determined him to be a match to an arrest warrant issued for burglary, by the New Orleans, LA Police Department.

All four individuals were arrested by CBP, and ultimately turned over to local officials for extradition and/or criminal arraignment.

"CBP stands on the front lines protecting our nation from all viable threats, ranging from terrorists to criminals," Robert E. Perez, Director of CBP's New York Field Operations said. "It is the hard work and dedication to duty of our CBP Officers that these criminals, some of them violent, were unable to pose a threat to our nation."
