CBP Advising Travelers of the Temporary Closure of the Port of Sweetgrass, Montana

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) advises travelers the port of Sweetgrass, Montana is currently closed due to a security incident at the Canadian port of Coutts, Alberta. Out of a concern for public safety, the port of entry at Sweetgrass has also been closed. It is recommended travelers use the port of Del Bonita for access to Canada or the United States.

CBP will advise once operations return to normal.

  • The port is currently closed due to a security incident in Canada.

  • CBP takes all security incidents very seriously. We have plans in place to deal with these types of incidents, and these plans were immediately activated.

  • The safety and security of the traveling public and our employees is our number one priority. As such, CBP takes precautionary action to ensure the safety and security of the traveling public, community, and CBP personnel.
