CBP Advises of Montana State Highway Road Repairs

Release Date:
April 22, 2011

Wild Horse and Willow Creek, Mont. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection advises that Montana State Highway 232, between the ports of Wild Horse and Willow Creek Mont. and the city of Havre, Mont. will be closed for approximately three hours on Wednesday, April 27 for road repairs. There is no detour around this area, so all traffic will be held up until the repair is complete.

CBP was notified on April 25 that the Montana Department of Transportation will be repairing a culvert at mile marker 2.85 on Montana Highway 232 that will result in the closure of the road for approximately three hours, beginning at 9 a.m. The area that will be closed is approximately ½ mile south of the "Y" where highway 232 continues north-west to the port of Wild Horse and highway 233 continues north to the port of Willow Creek.

CBP suggests that motorists consider using alternative ports of entry during the road closure:

  • Turner, Mont., located approximately 60 miles to the east of Willow Creek is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is a permit port, so commercial shipments must have a port permit to use Turner.
  • Sweetgrass, Mont., is a 24-hour commercial port to the east, located approximately 60 miles south of Lethbridge, Alberta. Sweetgrass is equipped for commercial cattle and swine shipments, beef and port, animal feeds, fish and wildlife products, and shipments regulated by U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
