February 6, 2014

Del Rio, Texas U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to Carrizo Springs Station apprehended a convicted sex offender on Tuesday.

Agents working linewatch duties near the intersection of FM186 and FM3252 near Carrizo Springs apprehended Victor Francisco Arzu-Norales, 31, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras. During processing, agents discovered that Arzu-Norales had been convicted in Concord, N.H. for felonious sexual assault and was sentenced to 12 months incarceration. Arzu-Norales was also arrested twice by Boston Police Department for failing to register as a sex offender. Arzu-Norales was deported on Nov. 23, 2012.

Arzu-Norales faces a charge of illegal re-entry – 8 USC 1326 – and his prior order of removal will be reinstated.

The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations. So far during Fiscal Year 2014, which began Oct. 1, 2013, Del Rio Sector agents have apprehended 12 sex offenders. During FY13, Del Rio Sector agents apprehended 18 previously deported sex offenders. “This encounter shows the dangerous nature of people agents arrest in the line of duty,” said Rodolfo Karisch, Chief Patrol Agent, Del Rio Sector.
