BROWNSVILLE, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Gateway International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged heroin. CBP officers discovered the alleged narcotics, valued at approximately $215,000, hidden within a maroon 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix.
“I congratulate our officers for their diligence and constant vigilance which made this seizure possible,” said Port Director Petra Horne, Brownsville Port of Entry.
The seizure took place on Saturday, Nov. 28, at Gateway International Bridge when a 38-year-old male United States citizen who resides in Brownsville, Texas, applied for entry into the United States driving a maroon 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. The driver was referred to CBP secondary for further examination. With the help of a K-9 unit, CBP officers discovered six packages hidden within the vehicle. CBP officers removed the packages which contained a total of 9.48 pounds of alleged heroin.
The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizure is approximately $215,000.
CBP officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned him over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
