CONSTABLE, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers recently hosted their first “Bring Your Child To Work Day,” at Churubusco Port of Entry on June 14.
The inaugural event resulted in 28 children in attendance. Children accompanied their CBP parents to see the work they do every day protecting America’s borders and supporting the agency mission. The children had the opportunity to see four interactive stations, showcasing different duties their parents perform at the port.
Activities included demonstrations of new technology, and non-lethal use of force tactics. Children also experienced agricultural and canine team demonstrations.
“This was the first time we hosted an event of this nature. Seeing the glowing looks on the children’s faces gives me a great sense of pride for my fellow officers,” said Port Director Virgil Farnsworth. “The occasion validates the commitment our officers have to their families, and the sacrifices made every day on their part to keeping America safe.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
