Border Patrol Seizes Narcotics at the Interstate 35 Traffic Checkpoint

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned the Laredo North Station seized several bundles of marijuana at the Interstate 35 Checkpoint located north of Laredo, Texas.

The incident occurred on August 27, when a pickup truck approached the primary inspection lane.  The vehicle was referred to secondary inspection after a service canine alerted to the odors of concealed humans and/or narcotics in the vehicle. 

A search of a toolbox in the bed of the truck revealed six bundles containing 145 Lbs. (65.8 Kg) of marijuana with a street value of $116,051. 

The driver, a U.S. citizen with a prior criminal history, was arrested and processed accordingly. The vehicle was seized by Border Patrol.  The marijuana will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
