Border Patrol Seizes 100 Pounds of Meth Worth $500K

YUMA, Ariz. — Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to Wellton Station seized 100 pounds of methamphetamine Nov. 13 worth an estimated $500,000.

Methamphetamine seized on November 13, 2014 by Border Patrol agents assigned to the Wellton Station.

Wellton agents conducting traffic operations discovered the large cache of drugs after stopping a vehicle that attempted to circumvent the checkpoint on I-8 east of Yuma.  Following a canine alert, agents searched the vehicle and discovered a false compartment containing 79 packages of methamphetamine with a total weight exceeding 100 pounds. The vehicle, driver and drugs were taken to Wellton Station for processing.
