Border Patrol’s Eagle Pass Marine Unit Rescues Child

EAGLE PASS, TexasU.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Marine Unit in Eagle Pass rescued an injured child who was stranded on an island in the middle of the Rio Grande River, Mar. 11.

“Smugglers continue to show no concern for individuals attempting to illegally enter the United States,” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Doyle E. Amidon, Jr. “The dedication and quick response of our agents prevented a potentially fatal situation for this injured child.”

Agents conducting maritime operations along the Rio Grande River rescued an injured 15-year-old Honduran female who was stranded on an island in the middle of the Rio Grande River.

The child was transported to Fort Duncan Medical Center for evaluation. The child will be processed as per CBP guidelines.
