TUCSON, Ariz. – Border Patrol agents assigned to the Ajo Station assisted a civilian motorist involved in a single vehicle rollover Monday afternoon on Organ Pipe Cactus Monument.

National Park Service rangers responded to the accident on State Route 85 near Lukeville.

Agents arriving on scene assisted NPS rangers with providing first aid for the injured driver and provided assistance with traffic control, until Emergency Medical Services arrived to transport the individual to a medical treatment facility.

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents work in remote areas and are often the first to respond to vehicle accidents on rural roads.

Border Patrol officials encourage anyone in distress to call 911, or activate a rescue beacon, before becoming a casualty. In the Tucson Sector’s harsh desert environment, Border Patrol security operations can quickly turn into humanitarian operations.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials welcome assistance from the community. Citizens can report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol and remain anonymous by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll free.
