CALEXICO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested two previously deported sex offenders Thursday morning.

The first incident occurred at around 4:35 a.m., when agents assigned to the Calexico Station encountered a man suspected of illegally entering the United States approximately three miles east of the Calexico Downtown Port of Entry.  Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which revealed that the man was identified as Zeus Calderon, a 38-year-old Mexican national, who was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age out of Los Angeles.  Calderon was sentenced to 3 years prison.

Calderon was removed from the United States in 2009 as an aggravated felon.

The second incident also occurred on around 6:30 a.m., when agents assigned to the Calexico Station encountered a man suspected of illegally entering the United States approximately 25 miles east of the Calexico Downtown Port of Entry.  Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Station for immigration and criminal history screening.

Agents conducted records checks, which identified the man as Hector Lucas-Aquino, a 40-year-old Mexican national.  Lucas’s record checks also revealed that he was convicted on December 16, 2006 of sexual abuse in Wilsonville, OR.  Lucas received 75 months in prison for his crimes.

Lucas was also previously removed from the United States March 26, 2019.

Both Lucas and Calderon are being held in federal custody pending further criminal prosecution.

In fiscal year 2020, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents have arrested and removed 15 individuals either convicted or wanted on sexual assault charges after they entered the United States
