AUBURN, Maine – On Sunday, January 5, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Auburn area to conduct transportation check operations encountered three individuals who were later found to be illegally present in the United States.
Agents encountered a suspicious vehicle while on their way to conduct transportation check operations. After questioning the passengers about their citizenship it was determined that they were all illegally present in the United States.
Record checks later indicated that two individuals had been ordered removed by an immigration judge after the individuals knowingly and admittedly failed to appear for their immigration hearing. The judge issued them a final order of removal in absentia. The third individual had over-stayed the validity date of his B2 non-immigration visa.
“Transportation checks are one of the many enforcement approaches the Border Patrol has to secure our nation’s border,” said Jason D. Owens, Chief Patrol Agent of the Border Patrol in Maine.
Agents transported the three Hondurans to the Rangeley Border Patrol station for processing, then turned them over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
