Border Patrol Arrests “Sureño” Gang Member
Calexico, Calif. —Tuesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro station apprehended a dangerous gang member attempting to make an illegal entry into the United States.
Border Patrol agents arrested a 43-year-old Mexican national as he entered the United States illegally from Mexico at approximately 7 p.m. Agents arrested him west of the downtown Calexico Port of Entry.
The man was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station where it was revealed he was an active member of the “Street Villians 13” criminal street gang. This gang is out of Los Angeles, Calif., which pledges allegiance to the “Sureño” street gang. The gang member is an aggravated felon who was previously deported in August 1996 for sales and transportation of narcotics and ordered to serve a combined prison sentence of more than seven years.
The man is in Border Patrol custody and will be criminally prosecuted for re-entry into the United States after being ordered removed.
